Week 8 Educational Packet

Educational Weekly Packet

The administrators and senior staff of Evergreen After School Club are committed to providing high-quality educational programming to all of its over 1,000 members and their families through these most unusual times. During the duration of the ordered shut down of K-12 schools throughout the state, Evergreen After School Club will produce a weekly packet of educational materials and information designed to both assist club members and engage families.  In addition to the weekly mailed packet., Evergreen After School Club will increase its use of its already robust social media platform.   Electronic copies of the educational materials will be placed each Friday on the Evergreen After School Club Facebook Page and the web site for viewing and downloading.  We have also added additional features such as more robust Facebook content and activities which will begin on Monday April, 13th..

We want to continue to help be the driving force behind the development of our children, and hope to continue making a difference in their lives.

Evergreen Family & Friends:

As we all know, we are living through a pandemic that is unparalleled in most of our time. The coronavirus (COVID-19) has caused disorder and chaos in everyone’s daily lives. As you well know, Governor Wolf has closed our schools for remainder of the school year. So in turn, there is No Senior Trips, No Proms, and No Graduations for our seniors (or postponed), sending a mass upset to all those students who have waited YEARS for these moments.

We understand the frustration, anger, disappointment, and even resentment that you all may be feeling. Everything is upside down right now, but we want you to know that we are here to do everything that we can, because we are in this with you.

With this virus looming over all of us, we must continue to stay home to protect ourselves, our families, and our community. If you do go out, try to make as few trips as possible and wear a mask to protect not only yourself but those around you.

The staff at Evergreen After School Club wants to thank all our students, parents, and our community for tireless efforts to continue to help each other and work together as we all move forward together. Evergreen will continue to be live on Facebook Monday through Friday to help students and parents with whatever they may need. The staff here at Evergreen is also dedicated to continuing Education, so we are determined to put out our weekly Educational Packets.

Please remember we are here to help. Directors are Live on Facebook every day. They are doing daily activities, story time, Q & A, or just whatever. Below is what their schedule is.

Evergreen After School Club on Parade!

We recently partnered with Flower Gallery (check them out here!) to walk down Philadelphia Street during Light-Up Night! The balloons were amazing as they sparkled and actually lit up. The kiddos had a blast and definitely earned some hot chocolate!

FAB LAB came to Evergreen After School Club!

Pittsburgh, September 12, 2018 –

Thanks to Evergreen After School Club, Carnegie Science Center’s Mobile Fab Lab is giving students from Penns Manor Elementary School in Conmodore, PA and United Elementary School in Armagh, PA the ability to experience the STEM-based maker movement. During the workshop, students will program robots, iPads, and laptops with CAD software and then take the Sphero Chariot engineering challenge, using programmable Sphero robots. Mobile Fab Lab is at Penns Manor through this Thursday and Conmodore next Monday through Thursday.

Using 3D printers, laser and vinyl cutters, a Shop Bot, and more, Mobile Fab Lab is a mobile maker space that helps students take their designs from computer screens to robotic machines. Mobile Fab Lab workshops and programs can take place inside a building or from inside the Mobile Fab Lab trailer. Mobile Fab Lab is presented in partnership with BNY Mellon.
